This project aims to acquire data that spans various scales from cities, areas, shops and machinery, etc. and solve the problems existing there by returning the results of analysis and processing of the data to users, residents, business operators and local governments. We also aim to establish a technological, economic and social ecosystem including technologies and institutions necessary to develop those functions and properties. In particular, the objective of this project is to analyze the problem solving practically using IoT and AI, and to analyze it across various sciences. Technically, intellectual edge technology for operating AI in the terminal equipment, basic technology for distributing sensor data on a large scale, and processing of multiple data streams integrally to produce highly value-added information Data analysis technology and others are targeted. Economically, when assuming the distribution of information to be produced through the market, there are mainly research methods such as the method of technically creating such a market, asymmetry of information, the price determination mechanism of information, etc. . In accordance with these issues and themes, students and faculty members belonging to different master's research societies will share the research results of each other and advance the practice of research results in society.

In principle, students from the Advanced Bioscience Research group or Master course students belonging to the Biological Study Group should take both Advanced life science A and B. Both are carried out in parallel, so please be sure to take both courses.

The purpose of this class was to acquire presentation skills suitable for master's graduates and a wide range of knowledge beyond the field related to life science and to strengthen collaboration laterally among bio-based Master course students. Through this process, all the participants deepen their knowledge and create a situation where they can work toward their respective research with a sense of unity.

This projects aims to use SFC trans-disciplinary knowledges to create a web of connected institutions with SFC as the Japan hub

Increased global interest in Japanese language and cultures has led to government support for cultural outreach programs with a focus on support for policy initiatives in the Asia-Africa corridor

The development of direct student-to-student connectivity and innovative materials has lagged. This project will utilize SFC resources to:

Develop student-centered connections with institutions supporting Japanese studies

(ISP-gombe DRC, St. Stephens College, India etc.)

    Create web-based Japanese studies materials

    and p-to-p diplomacy portals

On the relationship between globalism and nationalism, some say it is confrontational, while others say it is cooperative. The former basically assumes that globalism means homogenization of the world while nationalism means protection of national culture and national interest. By contrast, the latter recognizes that both of globalism and nationalism mean homogenization of culture and local society, and nationalism is only reaction of globalism, and therefore both of them are complementary. The latter also points out that, while globalism means homogenization in global sphere, it creates economic inequality in domestic sphere, so it is a typical paradoxical phenomenon. If so, we can predict a rise of anti-globalism or localism movement in domestic sphere.
Our basic viewpoint is that we should not consider globalism as alternative of nationalism or localism, because globalism, nationalism and localism are not only confrontational but also cooperative, the relationship among them is seriously ambivalent. To consider this complex relationship, we will investigate interactions between globalism, nationalism and localism, and the roles of nation states, civil societies and communities in such interactive contexts in various areas in the world. Specifically we will deepen our investigation mainly through reading circle, discussion and presentations on each member's research.

The teaching staffs' subjects of research:

1.TAJIMA Eiichi (Professor of Faculty of Policy Management)
Civil society and religious associations in China.

2.ZHENG Haolan (Associate Professor of Faculty of Policy Management)
Governance and publicness in rural China, modern Chinese history.

The main purpose of this academic project is to build a new approach to “security,” thruough a variety of perspectives. Given the development of artificial intelligence (AI), drone technology and big data science, our conception of security is undergoing a major change. At the same time, the cross-domain and multi-domain nature of security is also becoming more evident, encompassing the nuclear, conventional, space and cyber domains. How we can build a bridge bwtween the traditional and emerging areas of security studies is also something we would like to explore in this project.

2.ZHENG Haolan (Associate Professor of Faculty of Policy Management)
