This course is for beginners at A1 level. Students will learn to understand simple and easy situations in daily life and be able to communicate with French speakers on limited topics and at a slow pace. In this course, we use Agenda 1 (Hachette) as our textbook. This book aims at promoting collaborative work through task-based learning. This Spring semester will cover from Jour 1 to Jour 5 (“jour” means lesson).
Intensive French 2 provides the basic skills for A1-A2 level learners of French. Students will learn to understand simple and short sentences in familiar situations and will be able to communicate with French speakers in daily situations. Students will also be able to explain problems by using easy vocabulary.

We will help students to acquire sufficient French language to allow them to communicate effectively by using clear and standard expressions on familiar subjects, to carry on conversation while travelling, and to present their own projects and express their ideas accurately.

The goal of the course is to help students become autonomous learners and speakers of French. Students will engage in reading texts, developing conversations about general and specific topics and writing in ways that enable them to experience presenting ideas and opinions in logical ways.
The class is designed for the students who have never learned Chinese before. Students will mainly focus on practicing their Chinese pronunciation and studying new grammars and vocabularies in order to communicate in Chinese with each other. Intensive course 2 is designed for the students who have either passed Intensive 1 in the previous semester or those who passed the qualification exam called “Kakyo” at the end of March. The size of each class is limited to 25 students and there are 4 classes per year.
The course is taught by both native and Japanese teachers. Chinese is the only language allowed in the class.
Intensive Chinese 3 is designed for the students who want to improve their Chinese skills from beginner to intermediate level. Through taking this class, students would be able to speak Chinese more fluently and understand simple Chinese articles. The basic material for this class is “Intensive Chinese (インテンシブ中国語)”, which has been used in Intensive 1, 2 and Basic 1, 2.

The textbook, edited by the SFC Chinese Laboratory, is different from the one used in intensive Chinese 1-3. The contents of the textbook are divided into 4 topics: Chinese society, Chinese economy, Chinese politics and diplomacy, and Taiwan issues. Each topic, consisting of 4 classes, is taught on different weekdays. Students are required to preview the textbook, participate in discussions, and make presentations in Chinese.

In order to enroll to Intensive 2, you have to pass Intensive 1 or Basic 2. Intensive 2 equips students with grammar specially the prefixes and day to day conversation. Students are expected to be able to prepare a descriptive presentation and to be able to discuss in simple bahasa Indonesia.
This is an intensive course consisting of four classes per week designed for those beginning to study Spanish. The Spanish courses at SFC is not divided into the traditional "grammar" and "communication" modules, and emphasises the importance of integrating both aspects through the active learning approach, which requires participation of students in classes. As this is an intensive course, we will proceed with a relatively high speed, and students are expected to secure sufficient amount of self-study time outside classes to assure the thorough understanding of newly-learned expressions and vocabularies.Spanish Intensive 1 corresponds to the level A1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). We are experimenting with multi-language teaching, and are happy to accept GIGA students with developing knowledge of Japanese. We welcome students interested in Spanish-speaking societies and cultures, who wish to engage in multilingual education including Spanish, as well as those aspiring to broaden their career options through the acquisition of this language.
Spanish Intensive 2 course at SFC corresponds to the level A2 of the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR). A2 is the advanced-beginner level where:
(1) The learner can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
(2) The learner can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
(3) The learner can describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
Students who have successfully obtained credit in either the Intensive 1 or the Basic 2 can take this course. Alternatively, students with a prior A1 level can enroll directly into this course through taking the placement test (see the information provided by the administration for the exact date, hour and place). We welcome students whose native language is not Japanese, and will provide necessary explanation in English. By carrying out five tasks using Spanish and through the examination of our own foreign-language learning process, we will attach great importance to your development and growth as a learner who takes responsibility of his/her own learning, i.e. as a learner who not only learns Spanish, but also learns ‘how to learn.’ Students enrolling in this course need to secure sufficient study hours outside the class.
Intensive 3 and the following Intensive 4 aims to attain the "B1" level based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), where the learner is able to deal with standard situations encountered in work, schoool, or leisure. The learner will also be able to produce logically-constructed texts. We will therefore deal with relatively complex communicative situations and linguistic structures. By carrying out variosu concrete "Tasks" using Spanish, and through examination of our own foreign-language learning process, we will attach great importance to your development and growth as a learner who takes responsibility of his/her own learning, i.e. as a learner who not only learns Spanish, but also learns 'how to learn.'

Intensive 1 is an intensive Arabic class four times a week for beginners. Starting with learning of Arabic alphabet, students will learn basic vocabulary, grammar and expressions in a well-balanced manner, using original teaching materials.
Intensive 2 is an intensive class four times a week for students who have finished Intensive 1. In this course, students will acquire expressions based on language functions and learn reading, writing and conversation skills in a well-balanced manner. After completing this course, students will be able to have communication on various occasions using simple Arabic sentences.
