SFC Kotan: Learning the Aynu Language and Aynu Oral Literature
Although Aynu peoples are officially recognised as indigenous peoples of Japan, there are still few academic spaces where students can research on the Aynu language and culture. In this seminar, we learn the Aynu language, realise field visits to Hokkaido, and learn from (and engage in) the efforts to revitalise the language, and delve in to the world of Aynu culture through their oral narratives. All students participating in this research seminar will learn the language, but their personal research projects can span other topics. We welcome students interested in fieldwork-based social science and humanities, language revitalisation, and literary studies.

"Theories from the South: Societies and Cultures of the Spanish-Speaking World"
This research seminar focuses on the learning process of the Spanish language, and the cultures and societies of the Spanish-Speaking World that language learning enables, seeking to understand the realities and the theories that emerge from concrete local contexts. Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as Southern Europe, has been sites of attempts to build a better society, and global social theory has been hugely influenced by the theories and thoughts that arose from these regions. The seminar is based on area studies and sociolinguistics, and is conducted through reading seminars and student research presentations. Students can choose and pursue their individual research topics, as well as participate in research initiatives in collaboration with the Department of Spanish and Spanish-Speaking Societies.
The seminar is held on Fridays 4th period, and students are encouraged to attend the reading seminar on academic Spanish Fridays 3rd period. At the end of the semester, we will have a half-day presentation session of students' research.
Artificial intelligence may have a great impact on society in the future. In order to understand capabilities and limits of artificial intelligence, it is necessary to understand computers as its foundation.
In the first half of this course, we learn fundamental knowledge of practical usage of computers and networks in SFC. In the second half, we learn programming skills which are necessary to take advantage of computers.
After this course, you will be able to learn advanced programming skills in Fundamentals of Information Technology 2.
The aim of this course is to introduce the basics of medical and health data science, data collection, data management, data analysis and biostatistics to better comprehend medical literature and publications. By the end of the course, skills and methodology for basic statistical analysis needed for medical publication will be acquired.
入門レベルのミクロ経済学の講義を行う。
まず消費者・家計を概観し、需要曲線を導出する。その後,供給曲線を導入して市場機構がどのように機能するのかを考え,厚生基準に基づいて均衡について考察する。さらに,単純な需要供給モデルでは考慮されない外部性についても学ぶ。こののち,企業行動と産業組織,特に生産の費用と独占について考える。最後に資本市場と労働市場という,要素市場について学ぶ。
簡単な数学を必要とするが,講義では直観的理解に訴えるよう心掛けるつもりである。

Students on this course study a range of global issues, develop the ability to analyze these issues, provide solutions, and hold extended discussions with classmates. We will widen students’ content knowledge in English on these issues while also working on the skill of openly exchanging ideas and opinions.
