Designing for value-based healthcare delivery
In this course, we look at health and medical care as an extension of daily life. We will redesign the healthcare system as a new social infrastructure, evolving from the conventional concept of current health insurance. Specifically, we will explore new businesses that will constitute the new social infrastructure, formulating strategies as the operational scenarios such new businesses, and identifying the essential attributes of excellent entrepreneurs who are implementors of such strategies. There are various projects in practice, including healthcare systems, financial and insurance systems for the next generations, applications for daily use, and anomaly detection through inter-system information distribution. Accordingly, we will be directly involved in technology and system development, data analysis, data structure design, business model design, and intellectual property strategy formulation.
Entrepreneurship and Management
Utilizing various cases, we will study the processes and strategies necessary to create and operate businesses that will become the new foundation of a society and explore how excellent entrepreneurs the implementors should be.
The ultimate goal of this course is to cultivate the sharp and rich sensitivity to distinguish the right from the wrong, the beautiful from the ugly, and the tolerance to listen to diverse values that differ from one's own, and the ability to overcome all kinds of resistance and opposition to take action and get things done. Those are essential for entrepreneurship, a prerequisite for future leaders. “Getting things done” is exactly what Schumpeter defined as the essential function of entrepreneurs in his “Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy” 1942.
