This course is about consolidating the techniques of academic presentations. The course takes place on campus and runs only in the Spring semester. Students are introduced to strategies that help strengthen their ability to communicate in an academically-convincing manner.
The course is taught in English; and it uses a step-by-step method that goes from basic speech techniques to those that are academically more advanced. Discussions that follow individual presentations are an important part of the course. They also play a role in the overall grading.

In this lecture, we deal with many future issues in the Internet technology, philosophy, regulation and rule, and market value based on our experience at SFC. Our campus, SFC has been charged with the very important role in Japanese Internet. It was a big challenge that SFC adopted the Internet as a campus platform at the beginning, thus our experiment became a big contribution for current information environment in society.
Up to the present, the Internet has supported our live. The Internet connected every thing, every service by global scale. Also, an individual can show the message easily to the world by the Internet. The Internet is a global infrastructure designed to solve many issues by simply making good use of it. For the future, we have the mission making the better Internet with better knowledge of technologies, better methods for decision-making, unfettered idea and strong spirit. We wish to meet next generation Internet frontier with strong soul in this lecture.

The main topic is embodied intelligence. Students will learn and discuss how embodied intelligence is created through interactions between doing by body, feeling bodily sensations, verbalizing how body feels and think by words. Conventionally, studies on embodied intelligence have been done through objective observation of movements of body, but that does not suffice to reveal important aspects of embodied intelligence, which is relations between body movements and one's own thoughts and verbalization.

The aim of the class is to improve the design skills and deepen the understanding of the meaning and value of design in our society.

It is advisable for students who are willing to join any laboratory in the design area or advance into the design field, either in a digital or analog way, to take this class.

Courses of the design field in SFC is planned based on a concept called "Design Language." It is based on the design as a tool for problem finding and problem-solving, similar to artificial language (programming) and natural language (foreign language). Furthermore, the name "Design Language" also includes the meaning of literacy; that is, one ability that can be mastered by training. The design usually presupposes "sense," but as long as it is based on a certain logic, learning that logic will improve the sense at the same time. So the design language focuses on the process.

Therefore, this lecture consists of tasks to train the process from consideration to creation through actual work creation. Students are expected to understand the value and significance of new designs in society, develop future learning, production, and research plans, and create opportunities for them to leap forward through the class.

Social entrepreneur and social business are the business that aims to solve social problems(Welfare, environmental measures, education, poverty, and international cooperation) such as the government and the market has not been able to solve so far.
Solving social problems requires a new way of thinking that connects people in difficult situations with social resources. Social entrepreneurs use business methods to ensure that the system is sustainable.
In recent years, with increasing interest in climate change and SDGs, many companies are also interested in social business.

This class is designed for students who will start up social business and who will work in the government, social enterprise　and foundation. They will learn the ideas and perspectives of social business, actually do the planning of social business.
Waiting for students who want to act themselves in order to create a good society.

Introductory sessions for strategic management

This course is a two-period, intensive course that combines lectures, exercises, and group work to experience experiments and research on basic concepts, theories, and marketing and consumer research models. This year, we will take up the development of university education services as an issue and examine "Analysis and Strategy of Market Environment," "Consumer Purchasing Decision," "Consumption Pattern Analysis," "Price and Promotion," "Brand Building," and "New Products and Popularization." In addition, participants will be asked to present their marketing plans at the final debriefing session (as a group) and submit a report on each survey/experiment (as an individual).

Public Relations (PR) is a very important activity for increase corporate value for not only companies but also nonprofit organizations such as government and NPO.

In this class, we will mainly learn the marketing theory, the historical changes and cases of PR about how organizations can build and maintain better relationships with public.

The participants will acquire the way of thinking the PR strategy.

This course explores both academic and practical aspects of leadership. Leadership is one of the most studies themes in management studies. At the same time, leadership is one of the most important capabilities in practice in this complex, uncertain society. We aim to understand various topics in leadership such as what leadership really means, how we can develop and practice leadership, and what leadership we need in the future.

The purpose of this course is to study the systems and mechanisms of organizational communication and their impact on organizational effectiveness and dynamism of interpersonal relations. This course mainly focuses on several theories in organizational psychology such as leadership, motivation, organizational development, career development, and cross-cultural management. In the first half of this course, students will learn these theories. In the latter half of this course, students will study organizational communication from practical perspectives. Organizational communication has been becoming more important, as organizational members (corporate employees) have been getting increasingly diversified. Although the teaching style of this course is lecture, students are expected to learn organizational communication deeply enough to apply it to their future careers.

This lecture examines risk management as a management decision-making process from the "Shougo-seisaku-gaku". Traditional risk management focused on planning and reducing vulnerabilities. However, in the era of VUCA, is it appropriate to predict, plan, and reduce vulnerabilities?　This lecture is to start with this question. Therefore, I will not be lecturing on so-called "how to's" such as how to avoid risks wisely. This lecture is not based on pragmatism in the United States, so please do not misunderstand this point.

This class will focus on sharing the skills, approaches and ways of thinking, which are considered to be the essentials of management consulting activities.
Management consulting is the practice to support management executives in improving or strengthening their performances.
The course will provide opportunities to learn the basics of management consulting methods and to experience applying such basic approaches, through group work studies.

This class is designed to improve the following abilities.

(1) Analyze self-concept and understand how to express yourself
(2) Knowing the characteristics of the behavior of others, you can create a story of a presentation that suits the other person.
(3) You can observe and accept the reaction of the listener and give a presentation while communicating flexibly and interactively.
(4) You can make a presentation that evokes sympathy (moves or motivate the listener) by utilizing flexible not only verbal but also non-verbal presentation techniques.
(5) You will be able to create visual materials that are impressive and can be remembered for a long time.

By improving the above skills, we aim to be able to give presentations that allow the message to be clearly shared with the listener.

In this class, students will learn how research works should do, how topic should be set, how academic paper should be written.

We will focus on learning practical techniques and methods for making laws.
We will learn from the establishment of the law to the utilization, for example, ①What background should the law create?　②How is the law created?　③How to apply and utilize the law？
Therefore, we will challenge various tasks.
I hope that this lesson will provide an opportunity to think about how to implement laws that make use of SFC technology.

The purpose of this course is to learn the basics of policy law and how policies are considered and implemented in the field of information and communications policies. Specifically, this course will provide basic knowledge of policy legal issues and case studies on how policies have been considered and implemented for each administrative issues related to broadcasting, telecommunications, radio waves, personal information protection and consumer protection.

Several topics on Career and Society will be discussed in this course. Dynamic changes of Japanese society have made major differences in work styles, competencies, and career development. We analyze those shifts from social and individual perspectives. Please note that this course does not touch on a macro level perspectives such as labor economics.

The purposes of this course are not only to understand concepts of career development in changing society, but also to think about your own career development. Students who are interested in becoming a professional in Human Resource Management/Development, HR business, career education, and adult education are expected for this course.

The purpose of the this course is to reviewing and to understanding the key issues of Life-time Career Development. The course also covers topics such as work life balance, second career for seinor workers. The course also puts heavy emphasis on understanding actual career design processes and development of individuals, rather than explaing the theoretical frame work of career development.
The course invites practioners who engage in services to support career design and development of workers in thier firms. It is our aim that participating students of the course will gain knowledge and practices for their acutual career design prosesses.
Therefore, the students will gain practical knowledge and practices to enhance capability to develop their own career development programs in the future.

This class aims to help students to improve their decision-making skills by using the insights of behavioral economics, group dynamics, and organizational behavior..

Internship is a valuable opportunity to experientially understand the meaning of “work”. The purpose of this course is to understand, through experience, the social and personal significance of working in non-profit organizations.
You will participate in a 1-month internship during the summer vacation. Before going to internship, in the spring semester, you will learn the basic manners and attitudes in classroom lectures. After internship, in the fall semester, you will review your experience and consider your career development, together with other members of the class. The registration of this course is in the spring semester, but you need to attend classes in the fall semester in addition to the internship during the summer vacation. You will receive your grade on the day of the fall semester grade announcement.
During the internship period, you need to be fully independent and responsible for your activities. As for the internship destinations, you can either choose from the organizations introduced in the class, or select an organization on your own. (See the notes below for details.)

Recently, social venture is gaining increasing attention. A typical case would be a creation of a new social service related to a life with more spiritual richness, or a use of business method to help solve or improve social issues due to rapid change in the society.
This course is not for internship in such social ventures (if you are interested in internship, consider “Internship in Nonprofit Organizations”). This course is for participating in practical social activities and gaining experience; it is an action-oriented and experience-based program aiming to enrich your career design options.

In this course, we share how to create pattern language, which is a method to scribe out the practical knowledge related to a certain field of knowledge. The original idea of using pattern languages to write out design knowledge was proposed by architect Christopher Alexander. The late 1970’s book he wrote with his colleagues contained 253 patterns on practical architectural design. In the context of architecture, the pattern language was developed in order to serve a lingua franca for designing buildings between architects and residents. Alexander anticipated that people could get involved in the designing process of their homes and towns. Ten years after the book was published, Alexander’s idea of pattern languages was adopted in the field of software design. Since the 1990’s, the fields in which pattern languages are applied have shown even more expansion to cover creative human actions such as education, learning, presentation, collaboration, social innovation, policy making, disaster prevention, life design and even beauty in daily life. Pattern languages are now used to connect all kinds of people with all kinds of different experiences. The patterns help bring light to the less noticeable parts of a person’s experience, so the person can reconsider the experience to talk about it and share it with others. In the classes, you will learn the concept and cases of pattern language.

The goal of this class is to learn the basic skills of computer music production and to understand the system. In addition to creating sound effects, background music, and tracks, this class will also provide an introduction and basic skills for more advanced classes (i.e., it is not a DTM class).
Students will not only learn how to use the software, but will also understand the basic workflow of production, and experience the conceptual work, handling of various production situations, performance, and instrument production that are essential during production. These are accomplished by workshop format. In the second half of the course, students will be asked to work in groups and evaluate each other's work. In the latter half of the course, students will also experience mutual evaluation and collaboration in groups.

"Programming" used to mean writing codes in text-based programming languages like C, Python, and JavaScript, but modern programming systems include wider range of paradigms like visual programming, example-based programming, evolutioinal programming, etc. In this lecture, we introduce various aspects of modern programming activities, and hope to share opinions on future programming environments in the real world.

Irrespective of device and software, foundation of novel fabrications is to enhance the completion degree of a product by utilizing the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) cycle. This class deals with basic technologies and measurement techniques required for novel fabrication from both the analog and digital aspects. To experience practical fabrication processes and to learn more advanced technical and consideration skills, this course consists of three exercise rounds each of which has a different hands-on theme.
