This class addresses SDGs and their implementaiton.

This project will concentrate on several design development projects that we are working on with private companies. These design projects are meant to be completed and launched as products. Therefore, this project is different from your regular semester design courses.

In accordance with the Comprehensive Agreement on Creative Future Cities (2020) between the SFC Research Institute and Kamakura City, this project will be implemented in Kamakura City, where students will learn how to creatively solve the issues faced by local governments. This term, we will research small parks dotted around Kamakura City, propose new ways to use them that fit the times, and create prototypes using 3D printers and recycled materials to chart a path to future park revitalization. explore.

Recently, various types of metabolome analysis methods have appeared, and it is possible to measure a large number of metabolites. In this project, we will deepen our understanding of typical metabolome analysis methods and conduct metabolome analysis research using actual instrument.

Participated in C2C CTF 2023, an international CTF conference organized by Keio

The Augmented Town research project aims to build a new town platform using the latest technologies in XR and robotics, targeting a specific area in Tottori Prefecture as a model case. The keyword for this special research project is “augmentation”. While preserving the good old parts of the community, we will introduce various state-of-the-art technologies to prototype a system that will create new value and presence in the town.

A recent advance in noninvasive brain measurement techniques has enabled us to see human brain functions. In kenkyukai, we have learned these techniques as well as analysis methods, but less attempts have been made to survey background studies and summarize the knowledge. Therefore, we will prepare for the project by surveying neural information studies and by submitting the survey content as a preliminary assignment (please submit it by the end of August 2023). In this project, we will first survey neural information studies for summarization. Then, we will summarize the survey content and present it each other. Finally, we will share and structuralize the summarized content, and upload it on the web as a final assignment (please submit it by the end of September 2023).

Recently, various types of metabolome analysis methods have appeared, and it is possible to measure a large number of metabolites. In this project, we will deepen our understanding of typical metabolome analysis methods and conduct metabolome analysis research using actual instrument.

We collaborate with Tsuyama City and work on a "Open Innovation" project.

Discussion of ELSI Issues Associated with the Development of Technology in a Robot-Symbiosis Society.
This lecture aims to broaden the knowledge of ELSI issues (ethical, legal and social issues) in a robot symbiotic society. Focusing on the ELSI issues associated with the social implementation of contemporary technologies with attention to their applicability and deployability, through lectures and exercises, students will acquire up-to-date knowledge on the study of ELSI issues in a robot symbiotic society. Specifically, how current technologies are applied, future deployability will be discussed and expected ELSI issues will be analysed.

　In this research project, students will visit Sawara, Chiba Prefecture, which has rich resources such as historical townscapes and culture but is facing an increase in vacant houses, and explore concrete measures to solve local problems through thorough fieldwork and group work with local people.

Since 2015, SFC Japanese Politics and Diplomacy Seminar has been continuing research exchanges with Japanese research institutions abroad. Among these, this project is a research exchange with researchers, graduate students, and university students at Japanese research institutions located in Taiwan, as a step to deepen understanding of Japanese studies internationally and to take the first steps in this direction

Students would learn how to use Large-scale 3D Printers and 6 axis robot-arms. First, student would understand mechanical aspects and basic operations. Then students would try making special 3D digital model (through on-line remote collaboration). Finally all the students must create a video movie and submit a documentation summerizing all the activities in this class. Those are supposed to be published on the Web.

Since the end of the last century, the complete genomic sequences of many organisms have been determined. The impact of these genome projects on the various fields of science has been enormous. It could be said that we now have in our hands “the blueprints of life” for these organisms. At the beginning of the 21st century, it became apparent that large numbers of noncoding RNAs are, unexpectedly, encoded in these genomes. These RNAs are not translated into proteins but act as riboregulators, and have had another huge impact on the life sciences. More recently still, a new tide of research into the classical noncoding RNAs, such as the transfer RNAs (tRNAs), has arrived. In this project, we are especially focusing on the following subjects: (a) To construct CsgA-peptide expression system in E. coli. (b) To infer the origin of Ebola virus from the molecular evolution of viral proteins. (c) To analyze CSPs as a nucleic acid binding proteins across bacteria.

Students will create a piece of Digital Storytelling in Japanese. Digital Storytelling is a 3 or 4 minutes video that tells a story about themselves. Using the Japanese language according to each student's Japanese level, students will create a story with photos and videos. The aim is to improve their Japanese language skills through talking about themselves, writing scripts, and discussions. In the end, students will share their works, get to know each other, and share their thoughts.

In the field of humanities, "dialogue" is an essential concept that dates back to ancient Greek philosophy. In modern times, "dialogue" is also regarded as a concept that allows us to critically reflect on "subjectivity." Moreover, in learning activities, "dialogue" is highly valued as a means to stimulate learners' reflection. In this seminar, we aim to theoretically examine "dialogue" across multiple domains of philosophy, language, and education, in order to deepen our understanding of the relationships between individuals and also between individuals and society in our contemporary world.

However, with the advent of the 21st century, it has become possible to analyze large amounts of biological information, including genomes, and with the use of information technology, it is no longer a dream to understand the full extent of "life". SFC has been a pioneer in this field for more than two decades.

The applied fields of systems biology are unlimited, ranging from medical science, environmental science and ecology, food science, to the elucidation of the origin and evolution of life. In this special research project, we will conduct intensive research on a specific theme within the scope of advanced biosciences.

However, with the advent of the 21st century, it has become possible to analyze large amounts of biological information, including genomes, and with the use of information technology, it is no longer a dream to understand the full extent of "life". We will take place this class in Kamakura-City because Keio SFC and Kamakura-City made an official collaborative relationship since 2020. For this year, we will do 3 projects- (1) 3D-Scanning the city and ancient temples and shrines, and make new way of understanding city as 3D patterns, (2) Fabricating multi-purpose urban box with 3D Printing, (3) Make an interview and publish websites.

In the Wet-Bio building located in the SFC, various experiments such as gene introduction, microscopic observation of organisms, and breeding of small aquatic organisms are possible. Participants will be those who are usually interested in the life phenomena of a particular organism. First, each person shares their research content as a whole, then discusses the questions and solutions, and then discusses what could be considered if a survey were conducted based on that premise. Each person will follow suit, make a detailed plan for conducting the experiment, and announce the progress.

In this class, we will visit subtropical laurel forests and coastal vegetation on Amami Oshima and Kakeromajima to learn about the origins of the natural environment and the flora and fauna of these islands.

In collaboration with local government Kamakura-City, we are going to implement new digital services to solve issues in Kamakura city. We would use digital local currency ("KURUPPO") and test our prototype services with people in Kamakura, and get real feedbacks from them. You can find the details on
