The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities with students to collect beneficial data or results through fieldwork or research activity within or outside of Japan that is related to students’ research theme. Students are required to submit a "Research/Internship Plan" before their fieldwork begins. Students’plans are reviewed and only students who received an approval on their plans will be allowed to register this course in the following semester. Detail information about application procedure and duration of fieldwork will be announced on the Keio Student Website. Fieldwork should be conducted during spring or summer break. They say China is a typical centralized country on its political power, but you will find a lot of phenomena unlike a centralized country in the bottom sphere of its society. It is an ironical paradox that the strongly centralized one--party system there cause many deviant behaviors by local authorities. It seems that since the beginning of Chinese economic reform, such a paradox is getting more and more serious. In this course, we will analyse such a paradox from the viewpoints of ethnicity, history, culture and system and so on, and study on the relationship between state and society in China.

Students in the XD program will be required to make presentations about the progress of their research. The XD faculty members participate in this class to review and discuss the direction of their research from various perspectives. Students will be required to make presentations and demonstrations about the research progress.

The theme of this workshop is "Business management in Japan and Asia." The main objective is to analyze Asia, particularly the economic activities of companies. In this case, "Asia" includes Japan and China, as well as East Asia and Southeast Asia. Therefore, Japanese companies, Korean companies, Chinese companies, and other Asian companies will be subject to the study.
Deepening understanding of these four types of business activities will be a great clue to finding out about the dynamically moving Asian region.

The theme of this workshop is "Politics, Economy, Society of South Korea and North Korea." It aims to conduct research on the Korean Peninsula (South Korea and North Korea) as a region, focusing on political and social fields, economic and management fields, and history fields. It aims to deepen understanding of neighboring regions of the Korean Peninsula by preparing a flexible and broad perspective.

What exactly is a robot that does not give discomfort to us and we can easily accept its existence as a part of everyday life? Now we obtain capabilities to access ubiquitous information spaces and our human ability and cognitive performance will be gradually enhanced. Robots will also be integrated well into the human life and helping us naturally. They will have rich sensory perception and expressive facial signals, and are going to be social partners for us. In this laboratory, we are discussing what kind of “sociality” robots should have in human robot interactions (HRI).
