In this seminar, we will learn about the latest advances in music science by reading and discussing a different recent original research article every week. Half of the articles will be ones published by other labs, while half will be manuscripts published or near publication by our own CompMusic and NeuroMusic labs. Students will help Prof. Savage and Prof. Fujii choose articles and will take turn leading discussion of articles. Several times we will invite authors of the articles to give evening guest lectures. At the end of the semester all students will present their own original research projects.

This seminar, conducted in English, focuses on international relations, international security and contemporary European politics.

This seminar explores contemporary European politics and international security - particularly trying to "understand international security (and interntional politics) through Europe" and "understand Europe through international security (and international politics)." Everything will be conducted in Japanese.

Research topics; We will improve the sensitivity of metabolome analysis technology such as capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (CE-MS). By applying this to biological samples, we will elucidate the pathogenic mechanism and search for biomarkers in various diseases.

The purpose of this study group is the development of the coaching models which will be adapted to the communities. The coaching methods referred to here mean the ones not only being applied for specific sports events, but also done for the versatile communities. Therefore, we are aiming to develop the models for general needs, and the participants are required to practice the coaching methods which is capable to utilize to the society.
At the present time, we have already started the project based on the following themes

(3)Study on women’s sports/Gender and Society )
(4)Study on disabled sports

From the psychological perspective, this course will explore how to establish better relationships among athletes for the sake of performance-enhancing and seeking the victories. Sports enable people not only to motivate gaining the victories, but also to bring up their own humanities.
There are six themes that you can choose;(1) Study of conflicts among players / between players and coaches on sporting activities (2) Study on sports conditioning (3) Programing for cultivating self-motivateed players or Life skill programing for developing mental force based on own experiences (4) Study on women’s sports,Gender and Society (5) Study on disabled sports (6) Others (further discussion needed)

Corporate Finance and Corporate Management / Strategy.
To manage a company, it is necessary to understand overall management in a way that crosses over into various areas such as financial strategy, accounting, marketing, product development, organization management, human capital management, and business strategy. In this seminar, students will acquire the knowledge necessary for corporate management through (1) readings, (2) case studies, and (3) actual project practice. The area of expertise of the supervising professor is corporate finance, so the course will delve somewhat deeper into those areas.

This seminar aims to explore and examine multilingual and multicultural inclusive society. In this seminar, students will gain an understanding of multicultural coexistence through readings. Students will also explore the current situation of residents and children with multicultural backgrounds in the Fujisawa region and involve in projects related to multicultural coexistence in Fujisawa City.
Students will also learn and examine the method of digital storytelling as a tool for understanding cultural diversity and hold a workshop for the residents of the Fujisawa region to promote understanding of multicultural coexistence.

We discuss on the coalesce of the Linguistic Inquiry and its flanking region, and how to make use of that in the area of social creation.

In this course, after constructing your own questions and hypotheses on various topics related to the Korean-speaking world, you will gather appropriate research literature, conduct fieldworks, surveys and analyze them. Moreover, you will come up with effective ways to output findings obtained from the methods above. By making full use of your advanced linguistic ability, you will be able to understand the culture and society of the Korean-speaking world in depth.

This seminar is targeted at those who are learning and have learnt German and are interested in the society, culture and history of the German-speaking areas.

Nowadays the problems related to the functions of family and their solutions are widely discussed in Japan. As a background of such a situation, we may point out that the traditional gender division of labour, 'men work, while women stay at home', still exists. When and how was it established? Such family form is called the 'modern family'. What kind of influence has the 'modern family' had on not only the institutions and policies but also behavioural norms and lives of the people? This seminar is targeted at those who want to explore the answers of these questions by relating the declining birthrate and aging population in methods for historical or sociological research.

This class helps students' research in decision making.

In this seminar which will be held in English, we will deal with current or historic social, cultural, political and economic developments with a focus on German-speaking or other European countries, possibly in comparison with third countries. Students choose individual research topics after consultation with peers and teacher in class, regularly report about their progress and get feedback. All students are expected to do a final presentation in class and to write a seminar paper (in English or German). There is particular interest in Film, Literature, Society, Gender, Language Education, Politics, European Union, but other areas are possible, please consult with teacher. Students’ research topics in former semesters included migration, social movements or animal rights, for example. Students taking this seminar should be interested in exchange with others and in practicing their academic skills. The seminar will take place on campus unless access is restricted.

This seminar will help students to deepen understanding about recent various global economic issues. The first half will focus on students' presentation on short articles and discussions. The topics will depend on the content of articles published at around the seminar period and may cover topics including debt problems in developing countries, climate issues, SDGs, diversity, US economic policy under Mr. Biden, China's economy, Japan's economy and aging, monetary easing, linkage between monetary policy and fiscal policy, financial market development, COVID-19 pandemic, etc.

The main topic of this KENKYUKAI is examining Japanese language and culture toward multilingual and multicultural inclusive society.

This seminar aims to explore and examine our intercultural communication from a critical perspective. Culture is in fact influenced by economic and political issues which create unequal relations of power between peoples. Therefore, it is imperative that we understand the politics at work in an intercultural context and develop critical literacy. We will examine intercultural communication throughout reading and discussing a book or some articles. Students will also conduct a project on related topics to assigned literature or graduate thesis.

The theme of this seminar is . We will consider the actual situation of global competition of Asian companies from a comprehensive perspective. In this case, "Asia" includes not only Japan and China, but also East Asia such as South Korea and Taiwan, Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, and even India. Typical industrial fields to be analyzed include IT / semiconductor, information and communication, Internet-related, entertainment-related, automobiles, petrochemicals, and steel.

The theme of this this seminar is . The purpose of this research is to focus on the political and social fields, economic and management fields, and historical fields, targeting the Korean Peninsula (South Korea and North Korea) as a region. By preparing a flexible and wide-ranging perspective, we will try to deepen our understanding of the Korean Peninsula, which is a neighboring region.

The theme of this study group is "listening" or "hearing". Have you ever felt that the textual data and numerical data that have been used as materials for research up to now are somehow stiff, dry, and unsatisfactory? Especially in research involving people, it is quite natural to want something that feels the temperature of people.
Therefore, we have started a research group to consider and practice "talking" and "listening," which are very simple but realistic tasks based on communication, in order to open up research and the unknown.

How much do we understand about the country we live in? In my interactions with political scientists and scholars of Japan from around the world, I am often asked, "Why is Japan's politics so stable while the rest of the world is facing democratic difficulties? After the "lost 20 years" since 1993, and the two governmental changes in 2009 and 2012, the shape of Japanese politics has changed dramatically. However, there are still many challenges. It can be said that there is a need to understand and communicate this intrinsically. What can we learn from Japanese politics, how can we change it, and how can we communicate it to the world?
When we think about the state of Japanese politics and diplomacy (modern and contemporary) in this way, we naturally need to have a basic knowledge and understanding of its structure. However, how much of this intellectual foundation is shared? If the necessary foundations are neglected, all the hard work that has gone into the creation process may be lost. It goes without saying that it is necessary to acquire a foothold and stance to think and judge for oneself, rather than using borrowed understanding and convenient data.
Therefore, this seminar will take Japanese politics and diplomacy as its subject, with the goal of systematically understanding the structure of the problems that appear in it. We will use excellent texts in political science and history as a starting point for discussions on the background, institutions, and personalities, in order to gain a foundation for our own thinking. Students will then engage in a series of exercises to analyze and communicate their findings based on a systematic understanding, and refine their ability to think and discuss Japanese politics and diplomacy in your own words.

The social determinants of health (SDH) are the non-medical factors such as the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age, that influence health outcomes. We welcome students who value an inclusive society and community for health and wellbeing of individuals.
Each study group will deepen discussions on their own topic and conduct field activities.
Some examples of issues carried out in the past were parent-child relationships, mental health, sex and gender, and end-of-life. In addition to these topics, making connection and creating community in the post-corona era is important thus, students who are interested in such topics are also welcome. We are open for the diversity.
