This course is designed to help students improve their French reading skills as well as their speaking skills by discussing current affairs. Students are expected to read the assigned materials beforehand. At the beginning of each class, we will rephrase and summarize the main ideas of the text. Then we shall start the discussion per se. Students will be in charge of leading the discussion by asking their classmates questions and by giving their opinions on the topic at hand. The required readings will cover a wide range of topics. They will deal with phenomena specific to French society as well as international phenomena. As far as possible, the topics will reflect your interests.
