Course Summary

“The educator more than the member of any other profession is concerned to have a long look ahead.”, stated by the educational philosopher John Dewey. Since its foundation, SFC (Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus) has created and practiced radical educational styles based on the future, which has been referred to as an “experimental campus,” and the system born in SFC has spread to other universities and schools. In the light of the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the campus, we must once again envision radical (fundamental and innovative) schools and education based on the future and proactively work towards this vision. In this academic project, rather than simply studying education, we will imagine the future from various point of views and investigate as well as create images of how schools and education should be in light of these futures. Through a collaboration of educators and students, we will work to imagine, design, experiment and express new ways of education and schools that is neither an extension of the current SFC or a copy of something from overseas.
