Course Summary

In this seminar, we will work on current social, cultural, political and economic developments in German-speaking countries and draw comparisons with the situation in Japan. Various topics are possible depending on the interests of students. Each student will get involved with one specific topic. We will put special focus on academic skills (searching for academic materials, selection of research topics, formulation of research questions, reading academic texts and excerpting information, presentations). If possible experts will be invited to the seminar for discussions/interviews. The seminar is open to all studies who want to use German language in an academic context. It is especially suitable for students who intend to study at a university in a German-speaking country.
