Course Summary

The GIGA seminar will focus on various economic issues. It consists of two parts. The first half will be based on reading short articles on various economics-related issues and students' presentation and discussions. The topics depends on the availability of latest articles. The past seminars covered digital assets, CBDC, climate change, carbon pricing, digital tax, COVID-19 pandemic, debt problems in emerging market economies, poverty and inequality, China's economy, monetary policy, financial and capital markets, and DX and digitalization etc. Also, the seminar may have a debate on the hot global issues (for example, President Biden's economic policies were discussed in 2021). The second half will be based on students' presentation on the term paper and preparing the paper on the topics chosen by students.
