Course Summary

In Japan, as various social issues in the region become apparent, investment in start-up companies, which are important elements for solving social issues and creating new industries, is becoming active. In order to further develop start-up companies, it is necessary not only to supply funds but also to form a new ecosystem in collaboration with entrepreneurs, universities, local governments, etc. This special research project aims to develop future entrepreneurial human resources. Specifically, we will share the pains and successful experiences of financing and networking at startups through the actual experience of entrepreneurs, and introduce examples of open innovation in industry-government-academia collaboration. In addition, group work and final presentations will be held to propose business development from the perspective of an entrepreneur to solve regional issues by sharing actual issues from local governments. This special research project will be funded by Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank.
