We will explore issues related to the languages and societies of the Spanish-speaking world, putting into use the communicative skills gained through the Spanish language curriculum at SFC.

The Nikkei Communities in Latin America and Japan

In this course we will explore the Nikkei communities in Latin America from a historical and cultural perspective. Students will analyze the historical background of the Japanese migration to Latin America, the settlement and community development. The analysis of the historical processes will enable the students to understand the contemporary features of Nikkei communities in different Latin American societies. In the second part of the course, we will examine the so-called “return migration” to Japan. This analysis aims to understand these ethnic minorities, whose temporary migration has gradually turned into a permanent stay.

Along the course we aim to consider the main causes and effects of migration, the cultural characteristics of the migrants and their families, and the effects of their settlement on their children education. Additionally, we will discuss the migrants’ identity and the maintenance (or non) of their language heritage.

With the development of devices and computers, the scale and diversity of data handled by human beings are steadily increasing. In order to manage such big data, various kinds of data systems have been studied. Such data systems seem complicated, but its basic is beautiful and simple. In this lecture, students will learn the concepts and techniques.

Economy and labor market of Japan have a lot of problems such as lower productivity than other advanced countries, long working hours, and inadequate diversity in management level. In this context, the objectives of this course are to gain deep understandings on current situation of the Japanese society and challenges and future directions on labor policy, especially on Work Style Reform which the National Government of Japan is tackling.

Service infrastructure for collecting data via networks and constructing computing resources such as IoT and big data is rapidly spreading. This is a service form that has further evolved the infrastructure in which networking and computing have been integrated recently called cloud and is realized by combining software components present on the network and computational resources virtualized by software ing.
Therefore, in this lecture we will review the basics of conventional network technology and computing technology, and acquire elemental technologies of infrastructure built across both fields based on that knowledge. Specifically, we learn the concepts of virtualization technology used both in networking and computing, and the concept of API called via network, and design theory and technology to realize optimum design in building services Learn about choice through practical training. Since it is a lecture including practical training, it is a prerequisite that you have acquired basic knowledge of computer use and basic knowledge on network and OS.
Through this lecture, we aim to develop human resources capable of responding to the construction of service infrastructure of the future and utilizing it as a weapon for the goal to achieve ICT technology.

コンピュータのプロセッサやディスク・システム・アプリケーションは，膨大な情報を正確に記憶・比較することを実現してきている．今後コンピュータに，意味的な記憶・比較・情報発信する機能を構築することはビッグデータ・環境モニタリングデータ・医療データ・教育システム（多言語データ）等，膨大データの未知の意味的な関連性を発見するために，極めて重要な研究分野である．技術的には，世界レベルでの分析・可視化システムの実現により未知の事象を発見すること，また，社会的にはこれらの事象を地域・自治体等の意思決定支援として反映することが期待されている．
本アカデミックプロジェクト“ノーベル・コンピューティング”においては，環境・人・システム（機器）が有し，発信する情報について，意味（文脈・意図等）を手がかりとして，適切で必要な情報を獲得するための方法（システム・アルゴリズム・メソドロジー）構築すること，および，これらの情報の源となる事象についての新しい情報取得・計測・予測・発信・分野融合を対象とした研究を推進する．
主に下記の主要テーマ群を軸とし，関連分野の進展により適切なテーマを追加する． １）意味的環境モニタリング・分析・可視化システムの構築 ２）クロスカルチュラルコンピューティングシステムの構築 ３）脳科学・生命科学とAIコンピューティング融合分野に関する研究 ４）人間の身体変化モニタリングの時系列分析・可視化AIシステム ５）教育システム（外国語教育）への応用と実証的運用、運用能力の評価分析に関する研究

This academic project focus on community-based solution development in a field of human services, such as healthcare, well-being and welfare, disaster management,sport organization, etc. Students will learn theory and concepts of community, and extensive empirical studies, which they have been conducting. The project involves lots of discussion and readings.
