Internet Research
This research project focuses on the technologies and societies basis on the internet.
In the technology side, we are implementing and demonstrating for the application and development of protocols and systems, for exsample, Communication System, Distributed Computing Environment, Web Architecture, Sensor Networking Technologies, Big Data System, Internet of Things and Future Internet Technologies.
In the social side, we are discussing the new rules for AI era as well as considering "How to create the future society" through internet researches and practicing the ideas.
This research project is cooperating with the class of postgraduate cource (Mobile wide area network), various labs in SFC laboratory (ex. Internet Research Laboratory, Auto-ID Laboratory, etc...), global standarization body (ex. IETF, W3C, ISO, etc...) and companies or other universities domestically and overseas.
AQUA: Quantum computers and quantum networks
Research into Quantum Computing and Quantum Internet. Theory, simulation, programming of real quantum computers, quantum networking experiments.
We also work on Quantum Education and support the domestic and international Quantum Community.
Food and Food Science
The "food" field is expected to grow the most in Japan in the future. There are various issues to consider, such as health, taste, as well as food crisis and food diversity.
In this workshop, students will be guided in their individual research based on their interests in "food". Specifically, the following themes are expected: "texture," "taste," "nursing food," "smart agriculture," "food loss," and so on. Other themes should be applied for at the time of the course interview.

Now we obtain capabilities to access ubiquitous information spaces and our human ability and cognitive performance will be gradually enhanced. Robots will also be integrated well into the human life and helping us naturally. They will have rich sensory perception and expressive facial signals, and are going to be social partners for us. In this laboratory, we are discussing what kind of “sociality” robots should have in human robot interactions (HRI).

Next generation information Infrastructure and applications
The main research theme is research and development of information systems related to the Internet.
We will carry out research activities that research and development of protocols, such as IPv6-related, computer systems, security, and distributed systems, which are the next-generation core protocols, and the global expansion of research results developed through international standardization.
Rebooting Personal Computing
Since the end of the 20th century, the trend of mobile computing and ubiquitous computing has led to faster, larger, smaller, and more wireless computers, which have become widely used in our daily lives by optimizing them for each individual. However, the explosive amount of information produced by ICT/AI systems, for example, can lead to information overload in our daily lives, and the provision of individually optimized information (e.g., AI-based personal optimization of news articles provided on social networking sites) can distort the information we come into contact with and affect our thinking. It is also true that there are many problems created by the current architecture of typical information systems, such as the fragmentation of communities.
In this research, we will conduct research and development on a new information system architecture that is different from the typical individual-oriented architecture of "sensing personal big data, analyzing big data, and providing information optimized for the individual," always looking more than 10 years into the future.
Human-centered Computing Technologies for Cyber-Physical Well-Being
With the trend of mobile computing and ubiquitous computing since the end of the 20th century for the wellbeing of people and groups, computers have become faster, larger, smaller, and more wireless, and have widely penetrated into our daily lives. In this research, we are constantly looking into the future, more than 10 years into the future, to define the mental, physical, and social wellbeing of our lives (in both physical and cyber space) in the future, and to research and develop ICT/AI and other technologies to realize it.

Cybersecurity & Digital Trust Research
This research project focuses on the technologies and societies based on Cybersecurity & Digital Trust.
Cybersecurity & Digital Trust plays an essential role as a common infrastructure of present society.
This project wil explore Cybersecurity & Digital Trust issues both from technological and social aspects and study ways to resolve them.
From the technology side, we will be studying towards implementing and demonstrating of Symmetric Key and Asymmetric Key Encryption, as well as Public Key Infrastructre (PKI).
From the social side, we will be discussing new rules for Big data and AI era as well as considering "How to create the future society" through Cybersecurity & Digital Trust researches and practicing the ideas.
This research project is cooperating with the class of postgraduate course, various labs in SFC laboratory, global standardization bodies including IETF, ISO, ITU, NIST, ETSI, and companies or other universities both domestic and overseas.
Through these projects we would study ways of creating a world leading scheme in relation to society.
