Course Summary

With the advent of high-throughput sequencing technologies, comprehensive molecular studies of non-classical model organisms are becoming increasingly feasible. To this end, in this research project, we study non-classical model organisms such as spiders, tardigrades, ants, and etc. using comprehensive omics approaches, and by analyzing the resulting big data with bioinformatics, to elucidate their unique biology.
This project employs either or both of wet and dry approaches. Experimental biology part includes RNA extraction from the non-classical model organisms and sequencing with high-throughput sequencers. Bioinformatic part includes software development and analysis for the omics data.
