Course Summary

Design of public building at the public land in Tsukiji

The subject site is located in and around Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
Having the relocation of the Tsukiji Market, the spatial quality of district of Tsukiji has been changing. In this studio, we will envision the future of Tsukiji by providing a architectural scheme for the public to maintain and promote thrive in the area based on its history and current urban situation.

We will study the network, boundaries, programs, and forms of public space with an eye toward its adjacent town, Ginza, and their linkage to the surrounding redevelopment plan of the former Tsukiji Market, and invesitigate how a public space is made by designing public buildings.
