Data Architecture and Trust
The Internet has become an indispensable part of social and economic activities. With the spread of smartphones and social networking services that utilize the Internet, individuals and organizations can now transmit and view data to the world anytime and anywhere. Some of this data may be false information, and this has actually caused social problems. Even if there is such a suspicion about data on the Internet, it is often impossible to confirm the certainty (degree of correctness) of the data. In such a situation, the viewer is forced to make his or her own judgment of the certainty of the data, and the decision-making based on these data may not be accurate.
The Trusted Internet Architecture Lab at the SFC Research Institute, in collaboration with Fujitsu Limited, is discussing ways to realize a "Trustable Internet" that can address the above issues. In this special research project, we will review the technologies for building trust in the Internet, and conduct a hands-on session with prototypes implemented in the lab, as well as a hackathon to study use cases and develop prototypes.
