Course Summary

Keio Research Institute at SFC and Kamakura City have concluded a “Comprehensive Collaborative Agreement on Creative Future City” in 2020, and are working on improving citizens' problem-solving abilities based on data and technology, and resource recycling design. Under the framework of this collaboration with Kamakura City, this year's theme will be “Smart City Policy Design Based on Well-being.

This is a week-long workshop to develop new policies to improve the city of Kamakura, the target municipality of this project, through social scientific analysis based on data from the “Liveable Well-Being City Indicator” conducted by the Digital Agency.

The location of the workshop will be at the Keio Kamakura Satellite Lab in Omachi, Kamakura. This workshop is open to students who do not belong to any research group, even first-year undergraduate students. Please take the course selection test below.

The lecturers will be Prof. Hiroya Tanaka of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, who is the director of the Keio Kamakura Lab, and Takehiko Nagumo, a specially invited professor who is a leading expert on policy design and urban planning based on regional well-being. We are looking for a wide range of students, both general and environmental, who wish to learn how to scientifically analyze the state of a town based on data, and to make new town planning proposals based on logical reasoning and creativity.
