The beginning of street corner lifology: Fieldwork to confront the experiences of others and oneself
Local people look back on their life experiences and local history to recognize, think and cope with the social issues at hand and envision the future. In this seminar, we will conduct a one-day fieldwork in addition to reading the academic literatures. We will explore the lived experiences of local cities facing diverse social issues.
Exploring the power of place
We are always in communication. Understanding the notion of communication is to think about when, where, and with whom we get together, and what and how we talk to each other. In other words, an interest in communication inevitably leads to an interest in "place" and "place-making. In this Kenkyukai, we are conducting practical research on the "movement (mobility)" of people, the nature of "places" where people gather, and "place-making" from the perspective of communication and media studies.

Sociology of Social Sector and Human Services
NPO/NGO and Social Business in Japan originate from the volunteer movement in the Hanshin-Awaji great earthquake in 1995. The situation surrounded by NPOs in Japan has been changed since then. The activities have been diversified and empowered (influential) not only in the field of disaster relief but in the field of community design, human service and new business development. Social entrepreneurs and social business, CSR, social consumption and dynamic collaboration beyond sectors have been occurred for these years.
What is in common is that these activities in public aspect have been done based on the principle of networking and making community, and the significance has been more important to solve the various social issues.
In this seminar, you will learn the current situation, challenges, significance and possibility of the activities in "social sector" with the theoretical and practical approach. Group work (project) and individual research will be proceeded in parallel. You will discuss the theme and the case in group work and will put together what you learn in a paper as a graduation thesis.

▽Project Introduction:
Our project aims to connect SFC and its surrounding communities, creating a more lively environment around the university.
We focus on four major activities.
1) “Minna no Shokudo” (みんなの食堂), an event aimed at “raising children in the community as a third place through multi-generational communication” and “fostering a knowledge about the basis of life” in the area surrounding SFC, is held face-to-face for elementary school students and local residents. We are involved with local farmers through harvesting vegetables, experiencing cooking using them, and other activities.
2)In the spring semester of 2021, we took part in the launch of the “SDGs Marché” (SDGsマルシェ), an event to promote the SDGs from the Fujisawa area. We were especially involved in creating a website and opening a stall. We also plan collaborative products and sell them at the event with “農家レストランいぶき” (“Nohka Restaraunt Ibuki”, a local restaurant).
3) We routinely visit “Mononoki no Ie” (もんのきの家), a local community center, to interact with elderly people in the SFC neighborhood.
In addition, we manage special research projects and conduct publicity activities through SNS and other means.

This project is working on the community revitalization achieved through education. We are doing many activities with junior high school students by collaborating with different kinds of people in the region, such as teachers and local officials. Specifically, we plan and manage programs that include elements of cross-cultural exchange and regional understanding, and provide learning support to improve basic academic ability. Our field is Kaida Highlands in Kiso city, Nagano prefecture, and was selected as one of the most beautiful villages in Japan”. This summer, we made a project in which junior high school students have an interview with adults who are active in various fields.
Through MANABIBA (learning support), we are not only supporting self-study but also trying to deepen mutual understanding through lectures and individual learning consultations by using online tools. Furthermore, We aim to make our activities loved by the community by listening to their needs and communicating well with local people such as the town office, school teachers, and parents.

The Ugo High School Project's field is Ugo High School in Ugo town, Akita prefecture, which is known as a "Town of nature, Japanese dancing and snow". Ugo High School is the only high school in Ugo town. This project started by receiving an offer from the town to prevent closing the school.

Kids Project
This project was launched in September 2019. We target children up to elementary school age, andvisit an elementary school as a student volunteer, with the vision of “A society where each child can realize their identity, what they love, and be able to express their strengths.”
Our project members go to elementary schools several times a week as “student volunteers” and share and discuss what we felt during our activities as a “student volunteer”. In elementary schools,we mainly support the teachers and help the children learn as student volunteers.
We think of student volunteers not only as steps to become teachers, but also as people who are involved in the school site with their own intentions. We are a group of students who love children and who are actively challenging their own interests as individuals where one can be inspired by each other.

▽Project Introduction: In the Okomen Project, students take the initiative in growing rice with the help of the local community around SFC. Although SFC has been in existence for more than 30 years, there has not been much interaction with the people in the communities surrounding the campus, such as Endo and Goshomi. This project aims to make it commonplace for students to go outside the campus before and after classes to move around and interact with people in the community. The project also aims to encourage local residents to take an interest in the campus and build a relationship where both parties can interact and make suggestions to improve both the local community and the university. In FY2023, the second year since its inception and the first year of the project, rice harvesting was offered as a supplement to classes, harvested rice was sold at the All-University Expo, and served in the school cafeteria. If you are interested not only in rice paddies, but also in community, agriculture, food, community, and education, why don't you join us and work together in the area surrounding SFC?
▽Number of Positions: 2 individuals.
▽Recruitment Criteria: Rice cultivation is a year-round endeavor. It is a condition that applicants have the enthusiasm and commitment to continue their involvement in the project during both the spring and fall semesters of the next academic year.

■オーダーメイドコミュニティ(Order Made Community)
Order Made Community is a "community" where people who are engaged in "made-to-order" activities gather in the sense that each member has a base and conducts research.
"Establishment of individuals is essential. However, there is a limit without belonging to the group. It was started by the gathering of members who were active individually based on the idea of Professor Hasebe.
An environment where each person can achieve what he or she wants to do with all his might. In addition, we are working every day aiming to create an environment where each of us can support and enhance each other so that we can move forward.
The main activities are progress reports on each research and workshops that are likened to the research contents during the sub-seminars set up after class. We will carry out flexible activities according to the members of each semester and their research contents.

Psychoanalysis
This study group is based on the psychoanalytic worldview discovered by Sigmund Freud. Although psychoanalysis is essentially a clinical practice, the SFC curriculum does not aim to train for clinicians. For this reason, this study group aims at 'psychoanalysis as liberal arts'. Through research presentations and group discussions by student on themes related to human and groups/organizations in which students are interested, I am going to explore the nature of human beings.
