One of the essences of AI technology is the automation of intellectual labor. One of the extremes of intellectual labor is natural science research as well as artistic and creative activities. Actually, in the field of advanced scientific research, the rapid spread of information technology and robotics including AI is progressing, and the future image of the progress of scientific research itself being greatly accelerated by AI is coming soon.

In this course, students will learn how AI connected to experimental robots can discover new knowledge through repetitive experiments and hands-on exercises. Using a liquid handling robot that can be controlled using the Python programming language as a course material, students will experience the physicality of robots and how scientific experiments can be automated by robots by running the robot with programs written by the students and by performing the same experiments with their own bodies. In this course, students will learn about the physicality of robots and how scientific experiments can be automated by robots.

This is a new endowed course/ special course (donated by Aizawa Koatsu Concrete Co., Ltd.) starting in 2023. In this lecture, instead of throwing away used items, we will use the term “tensho (in Japanese)” to introduce a new “story” in creating and circulating new uses by changing their shape. With point cloud data from 3D scanning, generative AI such as ChatGPT, and Yamato Kotoba (original Japanese language) as design partners, we have acquired a new world view and re-perceived objects as individual objects with more individuality than just objects.

This lecture deals with concrete material as a subject. In addition, we will set the task of "reincarnation (tensho)" of the "SFC Media Center", which is the most familiar concrete building for SFC students. In the form of group work, we will go back and forth between concrete, which is a substance with mass, and the massless world of point cloud data that has been digitized, and from there we will envision the shape of the future "media garden" and "media space".

You should watch this movie for further understanding.

This course will introduce concepts in Ecocriticism, an interdisciplinary field of study that studies how the natural world is portrayed in literature and media, typically in relation to modern environmental concerns. The course will trace the origins of ecocritical thought in the Romantic era, through the 19th and 20th centuries, before moving into an analysis of depictions of nature and ecological themes in contemporary popular culture.

Japan is an island nation surrounded by the sea on all sides and has achieved economic development in industries closely related to the sea, such as international shipping and fisheries. In particular, Japan depends on more than 99% of its imports and exports on maritime transportation, which is often described as the Japanese lifeline.

Numerous maritime threats, however, exist around Japan. Those include activities of Chinese Coast Guard ships around the Senkaku islands, large-scale illegal fishing activities in the Sea of Japan and off the Ogasawara Islands, North Korea's spy boats activities, and piracy incidents along Japan’s Sea Lanes of Communication.

How can the Japan Coast Guard respond to such threats by maritime law enforcement based on international and national law? In the series of lectures, while referring to international law, including international law of the sea, we will attempt to analyze how law enforcement functions in each specific case.

Japan is encircled by the ocean on all sides, and it has achieved economic progress through endeavors intimately associated with the maritime realm, such as international trade via maritime transportation and the fishing industry. Notably, Japan entrusts over 99% of its energy to maritime shipping, and it is scarcely an exaggeration to assert that maritime transport routes constitute Japan's vital lifeline.

However, the maritime domains of Japan are beset by an array of diverse threats. These encompass the activities of Chinese Coast Guard vessels in the vicinity of the Senkaku Islands, the operations of maritime research vessels that ignore international legal frameworks, large-scale illicit fishing ventures in the Sea of Japan and off the Ogasawara Islands, as well as the spy boat incidents of North Korea.

In response to these multifaceted threats, how can maritime law enforcement, anchored in the precepts of international and domestic law, effectively contend? Through this lecture, taking these threats as examples, we shall analyze law enforcement's functionality, referring to relevant international law, including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

What is "song" and what is the act of "singing"? Through in-depth study of the roles and elements of "song", we will theoretically and practically determine the distance between ourselves and "song" and deepen our understanding of it. Through the study of "song," to deepen one's knowledge of music as a universal language, and to enhance one's creativity.

Through the process of reconsidering the distance and relationship between oneself and "songs," the objective is to deepen one's understanding of the entire environment surrounding oneself, and to be able to spend one's subsequent student life and life with greater sensitivity. The goal is for each student to acquire his or her own method of understanding the relationship between the self and the environment through the experience of the reappraisal process.

Using the subject of "songs," which is so familiar that differences in perception with others are unlikely to cause problems, students will carefully reconsider the foundations on which their own lives are based, and share them in class to gain many perspectives, to develop tolerance for differences of opinion and thinking, and to learn about their own possibilities and idiosyncrasies. To learn about one's own possibilities and idiosyncrasies, etc.

The class will give examples of how a deep understanding of one aspect can be abstracted to a high level through an objective understanding of one's surrounding environment and a structural understanding of one's awareness of problems, and how this can actually lead directly to overcoming experiences and challenges in other areas (and vice versa), and how, by contrasting and understanding the self with the outside world and the brain with the body, we can achieve harmony with other individuals. We will discuss how we can resonate with other individuals in order to realize cooperation with them.
